Review
I thoroughly enjoyed this book! The style and pace is different to my usual reads but I marvelled at how easy to read this book was. I am a huge fan of short chapters, I always feel like I fly through a book when the chapters are short. Add to that a variety of interesting characters and engaging dialogue and it is almost impossible to put down. The enticing shortness of chapters leading to 'just one more' means you can easily read for much longer than you first anticipated.
Whilst some reviews have described this as 'laugh out loud', I'm not entirely sure that is true, however, I suppose humour is subjective! I would describe it as one of the most light hearted and jovial books about murder I've read!
The story is a true whodunnit. With plenty of questionable characters, this story really does keep you on your toes and guessing until the end.
I think the most refreshing thing about this book is seeing a book written about the older generation. The characters in this book turn most stereotypes on their head! Day drinking, mischief, sharp wit and humour. Retirement has never sounded like so much fun! The characters aren't defined by their age though, instead their personality is crafted from years of experience. Some of the topics covered in the book are quite hard hitting but they are dealt with in a sensitive way.
I happily give this book 5 stars!
There is a sequel called The Thursday Murder Club 2 which is available to pre-order. I will be putting this on my TBR list!
